Token usage is not a measure of how well your organization is using AI.
Leaders are looking at consumption numbers, counting the agents being built, and reading the internal buzz as a sign of progress. What that activity mostly reflects right now is noise. In many organizations people are using AI for the sake of using AI, and very few have paused to ask where it adds real value to the business.
That question is the biggest disconnect I see. We have moved from resistance to AI into overuse without focus, and high usage says nothing about whether the technology is being applied effectively or efficiently.
The most useful thing an organization can do at this stage is create focus and stability around AI. Define the priorities, identify where AI will deliver the greatest value, and put structure behind it through pilots and project plans that state clearly what AI is being used for and why.
If your organization needs help bringing that kind of focus to AI, send me a message and let’s talk about what it would look like for your team.
